If you didn’t know there’s a new version of Guitar Hero coming out totally based on one band and that band is Aerosmith. It’s based on the GH3 game and chronicles the life of the band from start to finish. I haven’t seen a song list yet, but I’m assuming they’re all Aerosmith songs. I’d really like to see a Metallica version, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon with the He-Man-Internet-Haters. Here’s an article from USA Today.

If the title doesn’t make any sense, you need to go watch There Will Be Blood. Surprisingly, the Oscars were interesting all the way through this year for me. Really enjoyed Jon Stewart as host and my favorites picked up a lot of awards. I have a longer post here on my movie blog.
I know I’m not the easiest person to shop for, but this year I’m going to make it easy. Please, please, please get me one of these.
I’ve been using this plugin for a short while and just saw this article on Wordpress.com saying it’s been banned. The date is also 8 months old. Now it seems to me like the people having problems were probably doing some fishy things. I’m considering looking for a new plugin to use, but will probably keep using it. In the meantime here are some tips.
- Go to http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools and setup your site(s) there.
- Using the same Google account setup your Adsense stuff.
See? Now Google knows about your site and you shouldn’t have problems with banned content or something. You also shouldn’t be giving out your Adsense account numbers or posting ads on sites that you don’t have complete control over. Pretty simple. Don’t be stupid.
I’ve been kinda out of it for a while. My lungs quit working for a few days again. I really need to get a new pair. I’ve been doing a lot of work on the movie blog; writing reviews and retroactively categorizing is a lot of work. I think I just finished up through June of 2005 last night.
If you have Netflix you might want to check out their on-demand viewing. I looked at it when it first came out and there were maybe 20-30 titles for each genre and absolutely nothing I wanted to watch or hadn’t seen already. I’ve been watching a few over the past couple days though and the selection has been greatly increased. There are even 2007 films you can watch. You can even watch as much as you please. When it first started you were allowed X amount of films or maybe there was a time limit. I don’t really remember.
So I haven’t been updating everyday with Lent stuff. I’m sure nobody cared. Things are going pretty well. I’ve been getting the reading in. Can’t say I’m really pondering or meditating on it. I’ve pretty much just been reading it and thinking, “hmmmm” to myself. The exercise thing has been great. It feels good just to be semi-active again. I don’t think I’m anywhere close to doing the pull-ups yet, but I’m working on it. Liz says my arms are starting to get a little bigger like they used to be.
Oh, and if you’re in the mood for something smart and funny, check out this site. It’s a blog called The Ongoing Adventures of ASBO Jesus. Liz alerted me to it. Pretty funny stuff.
I’ve never really been into feed readers. I think mostly because I haven’t used one that I’ve been happy with yet. In an effort to be less of a Philistine I setup Bloglines today. I currently have 31 feeds setup with it. If nothing else, this will give me something else to blog about.
I’ve always heard horror stories about wedding photographers, but never actually experienced it until last summer. I was at two weddings in Muncie, IN where Lee Ziegler was used. The guy seemed nice and I heard he was supposed to be “one of the best” in the area. I also heard he charged a lot of money, but he also offered a lot of services like being around all day and setting up slide shows at the reception, etc.
I’m not going to give out names, because I’ve been told there may be lawsuits involved so I’ll called them wedding1 and wedding2. Things seemed to go ok at both weddings until it actually came time to get the pictures. Ziegler promised them 800 or 900 pictures. Both got maybe half of those. A ton of standard shots were missing like pictures of the bride and groom, pictures of the groomsmen, pictures of the family, etc. There were, however, no lack of shots for the “hot” bridesmaids and one mother while she was getting dressed. Creepy? I think Walter Sobchak would call this guy a nihilist.
After seeing these pictures, wedding1 and wedding2 both tried to talk to Ziegler about the issues and he just turned into a total jerkface about it. Refused to answer emails, yanked their chains by “giving them the pictures” with things purposefully messed up and in thumbnail sizes*. Another thing he does is to take some of the money you pay him and give you a credit on a photo printing site. The problem is that Ziegler won’t tell wedding1 and wedding2 how to use the credit. He also won’t post any of the pictures they want printed on said site.
At one point both wedding1 and wedding2 asked for a refund, as stated in the contract. Ziegler told them, “I’m not in a position right now to offer a refund.” So the guy spent all their money I guess. I wish I had better words to describe him other than profanities and “he’s a bad business man.” This is the kind of behavior that gets you beat down on the playground or in jail. So what do I really have to say about Lee Ziegler, the wedding photographer from Muncie, IN? Stay away from this guy. He overcharges his customers. He doesn’t fulfill his contracts. He screws people over and he makes brides cry.
If you’d like to read some more, check out what Lij has to say.
* After writing this I was informed some of those thumbnail pictures turned out to be ok, they were just in a Photoshop-only format. I guess I forgot that most people, who have no expertise in photography or the photo industry, spend hundreds of dollars to own Adobe Photoshop. Man, I’m such an idiot.
Smitty has had an idea for a while to start up a blog to try and pool our collective knowledge about blogging. It’s finally happened. Smitty, Tara, Liz and myself are all contributors to BloggingAmigos.net. We’re going to be mainly talking about self-hosted Wordpress sites to begin with. The plan is to eventually start talking about other blogging tools as well.
I know Liz thinks it’s weird that I am sometimes awake or eating at odd hours. It’s not uncommon for me to be up some mornings at 3am checking my e-mail, watching some TV or even making a sandwich. On the other hand, I sometimes come home and take naps after work if I’m tired.
Well tonight, after getting home from Muncie, Liz decided to make Mac N Cheese and some sausage a little after 11pm. I didn’t want to say anything, but I think maybe Liz is starting to pick up on some of my good habits.
