If you’re a psuedo-geek like me, I’m sure you’ll be interested in these interviews. The first link is Steve Jobs and Bill Gates conversing and the second is just an interview with Jobs. These can both be found at engadget.com. It’s a pretty cool site. Check it out if you’ve never been there.
Here’s a link to the All Things Digital website.
It wasn’t actually very hard to get the drivers on there for Windows, I just didn’t want to open my case and plug in a floppy. I still don’t understand why it magically worked the first time. It just doesn’t make any sense.
Currently helping Liz with a Joomla install. Hopefully we can get something working for her that looks ok and has the functionality she wants. We’re making two sites actually. One for her editing and one for invitation making. I haven’t really gotten into editing color schemes and fonts yet. I think I have a basic handle on all the functional stuff though. Hopefully we’ll get something running soon.
When I put my new sweet machine together a few months ago, I was pretty surprised that I setup the RAID 1 configuration and Windows just installed flawlessly. Well, after getting sick, moving etc, I’m now finally getting things really setup on it. So I decided to wipe the drive(s) and start from scratch. Now Windows doesn’t want to recognize the RAID drives. I know I could probably make a floppy to load the drivers, but I currently don’t have a floppy drive in there. I’m going to have to mess with it more tonight. Since it’s a RAID 1 (mirroring) I’m going to try to install on one drive and then mirror the second. I know that wouldn’t work with stripping or some of the other RAID types. If it totally blows up in my face, I’ll at least have learned a lesson.
I’m running an Asus A8n32-SLI board with two 160gb WD SATA drives. I really like the BIOS, it’s just the Windows installation that’s being annoying. Any ideas?
Just saw this trailer for the movie Paris, Je T’Aime. You should give it a watch. There’s a ton of super-famous directors like the Coen Brothers, Walter Salles, Gus Van Sant, Wes Craven, etc that got together to show what Paris is like. As you may have guessed, all these directors got some of their favorite actors and actresses to take part in this. People like Steve Buscemi, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Elijah Wood, Juliette Binoche, Willem Dafoe, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Bob Hoskins, Natalie Portman, Ben Gazzara, etc. I’m really excited.
Recently I put up a link about walking at work. I’ve decided to put my money where my mouth is. I’ve been walking to work. I live about 2 miles away so I’m putting in 4 miles of walking a day. It takes about 30 min to get there and home, but the weather is wonderful and it’s just so nice. It’s also saving me a ton of gas money. I was thinking how it’s weird that I’m walking 2 miles to work, but when I lived 6-7 blocks away, I never wanted to walk. It’s been really weird this past year getting so out of shape. It seems like I was just sick and/or couldn’t breathe for so long. On top of that I was just tired all the time. I was tired when I woke up, tired at work, tired when I got home. Some days I was sleeping 12 hrs or more. Even when I started sleeping “normal” hours I would still come home and just sit around cause I was too worn out to do anything else.
Right now I feel like I have the energy to go running and stuff, but I don’t think the lungs would quite be up for it yet. The walking works out pretty well. It’s very low impact on my joints, I’m doing a significant amount of walking, and I’m not spending extra time to do it. Hopefully it doesn’t start raining. That would kinda put a damper on the whole walking.
We finally got the fifth installment recorded, edited and posted. We had a plethora or technical difficulties. Nothing was really wrecked, it just took a lot more time to finish it. Robby came in as our Film Noir guest. We got a little history, identified some key attributes, and then discussed away. Some of our sound files got messed up so Liz and I re-recorded the last bit. Check it out. I hope you enjoy!
I was just browsing some headlines, cause Perry told me Jerry Falwell had died, when I saw this. All I could say was, “wow.” Ever since I started actually doing computer work instead of physical labor, I’ve definitely noticed a difference. Sitting at a desk all day is a bit different from doing construction work. I used to take 3 or 4 sandwiches, fruit, cookies, etc for lunch every day to work. Now I might eat a single sandwich for lunch. I know part of it is that I’ve gotten older and stuff, but being able to walk on a treadmill while doing work is an awesome idea. I don’t know if the desk is really worth $2700 or not, but I think this is a great idea to help battle peoples’ weight problems.
Saturday was a wonderful day because Liz and I met up with JRod at my current favorite pizza place. I’m almost afraid to talk about it too much because things I love tend to go out of business….DOTS, PJ’s, Castleton Arts Theater, Hollywood Bar and Filmworks, etc. So I’m kinda going out on a limb here, but Brooks Uppercrust in Marion is pretty awesome. You should check it out sometime. They have amazing breadsticks. Anyways, we met up with the JRod and got an all meat with some of their lovely breadsticks and then had lots of laughs before, during and after our food came.
If you need a movie recommendation, Hot Fuzz and 28 Weeks Later are both pretty solid. The later being much less funny than the first. If you liked 28 Days Later even just a little bit, I think it’s fair to say you’ll love the sequel.
If you’re a listen of the Lebowski Podcast, you’ll be happy to know we’re going to be recording episode 5 and it should be edited and posted this week.
Apparently Liz thinks I’m going to tell some really crazy story about her. Why would I do that? All I wanted to tell was about what happened Friday night.
So here it goes…..I wake up from a nap and Liz asks if I would go outside and get something out of her car. I object because I happened to be sans-pants. She then tried to tell me how it didn’t matter cause it was night-time, I would just be going out to my own driveway, we live across from a baseball diamond, etc., etc. I objected. So, Liz proved me wrong.
