Cheese

Saturday was a good day for various reasons. One being that I made it over to White Feather Farms for some cheese. I love buying cheese there. Saturday was a light-purchase day where I only spent $22.12. Most trips find me spending twice that. This trip I picked up…

2lbs - McAdams cheddar
2lbs - Farmer’s Cheese
1 bag Bonbel Babybels
2 - 1/2lb Gouda discs
1/2 - Mellow Cheddar

Liz had never had Farmer’s Cheese before. It’s pretty awesome and pretty cheap. I think it’s about 2.90/lb and tastes amazing. I had also never had the Bonbels (Yellow wrapper) before, at least recently. They taste pretty close to the originals (Red wrapper). As for the McAdams, I couldn’t walk out of there without any. This is the most amazing tasting cheddar I’ve ever had for the price. It rings up at about $3.30/lb I believe. Usually if you want a good cheddar you’re going to be paying $7-12 per pound. The mellow cheddar is from England. I think it’s called Top Hat Cheddar or something. It sounded interesting so I figured I should give it a whirl.

Ode to PJ’s

I’m talking to Gunner online right now about PJ’s Pizza - the greatest restaurant in all of Warren, IN. Unfortunately, our beloved provider of food, good music and high-class entertainment shut down last summer. Thinking about it has inspired me to write another poem.

Oh PJ’s, Oh PJ’s
Pajamas you were not.
You could be found in Warren
And the pizza it was hot.

Breadsticks and Timmy Bread,
Lemonade and Ice Tea in the back.
A jukebox full of memories
Where quarters went in the slot.

We loved you and supported you
As often as we could.
We sang your praises always
And told everyone we could.

Southern Rock was abound
Every time we were there.
Even Meatloaf was played
For Crickit’s share.

One night we came
With anticipations high.
But no love was found,
Only a garage sale.
What a sight!

And who did we find
Down the street and to the left?
None other than East of Chicago
With their buffet and new booths.

A coincidence I find this
Not very much.
We mourn the loss of our friend
Quite much.

The food, the laughs,
The music and friends.
PJ’s will live on in our hearts
Until the bitter end.

My Ring

When Liz and I picked out our wedding bands, I ended up getting something that wasn’t working out too well. So we took it back and I got something in Titanium. It’s quite sweet and pretty manly if I do say so myself. Here’s a couple pictures for your enjoyment. I had to mess with the settings on the camera to it wasn’t blown out with the flash or way out of focus. Hopefully these look alright.

The first one is a shot of the last thing you’d see before I punched your face. The next three are shots of my ring next to my dusty lamp. Well Bleu, here you go. I got some pictures up for you.

Movies

As a lot of you know, I kind of like movies.  I watch them all the time, I reference them in conversation, I write about them, I have marathons, etc, etc.  Well, once perk about marrying Liz was we combined our respective collections. Liz bought us a new shelf on the way home from work the other day.  That held my movies.  Then we used a smaller shelf of hers to add in her movies.  Then we added our TV series.

Right now we have a little bit of room to add some more.  We don’t even have all of our movies on the shelves right now, but they’re still pretty full.  Even after taking out the 11 doubles of movies we both had.  I think it’s pretty impressive.  Neville said it’s like our child.  He was of course joking, but I really don’t think we take them that seriously.

Here’s the first picture available to the world of the events happening on Nov 11th. I’m proud to say, this is the most Centre Morris guys I’ve ever seen at a wedding. Lunch

Today was a good lunch. Besides it being an IT lunch where all us nerdy guys get to plot on taking over the world, I also had the pleasure of a TU burger and tots. The burger was quite delicious in itself, but I also had more tots than I knew what to do with. Magoo wisely decided to skip the old tots under the heat lamps and made me a fresh batch. He also gave me the WHOLE batch.

On top of all this, Magoo also informed me that he has started up the drinking fountain prank again. I told him about back in the day when Schnaps and I would turn the head of the drinking fountain out a little and then sit back and watch. Unsuspecting denizens would come to the drinking fountain seeking for anything to quench their thirst. Well folks, I’m delighted to say they did not get their thirst quenched. They got their pants drenched instead. The hard part was deciding to laugh right then and there, or hold it in until they leave the room.

Magoo has also been pulling the microwave trick on the waffle irons in the DC. He unplugged both the other day and got to watch as people fumbled around trying to make a waffle. I’m proud of you Magoo. Keep up the good work.

Another Doctor Visit

Today I went back to the asthma doctor.  It took forever, but I finally got out of there.  Dr. Draghiciu congratulated me on my progress and gave me a manly handshake.  I like this guy.  This new medicine seems to be doing the trick.  I’m going to be staying on it for a while still and then we might drop it off a bit.  I’ve started lifting/exercising again.  It feels so good to be actually doing something…unlike the past few months.  I’m so out of shape, but I’m working on remedying that as soon as possible.

Next week I’ll be missing the first A-group outing since I started going.  I think some of the lads are sad, but it was bound to happen sometime.  I think JRod and I are going to procure some Rally’s in the near future to make up for it.

In other news, Liz *thinks* she is sick.  In my opinion I think she’s not the Liz I think I know.  I think she’s really a fembot and she’s trying to kill me.  Please don’t let her in on my secret, or she’ll probably stop pretending and and try to finish me off quick.

Well this is my first actual post using wordpress.  I have to say I like it.  I’m not completely satisfied with the template/theme.  I also want to try and find another widget or two.  I’ll probably end up trying to code something myself.  However, I need to read through some more documentation before I tackle that.

President Chavez is the devil?

I know that Venezuela is part of the “Axis of Evil” as our government has declared. Obviously with somebody like Chavez in charge who is against the United States of America. However, sometimes I find myself against the United States of America concerning some of our actions and policies as a nation.

I remember during the last election some of my friends voted for John Kerry because of his social policies. As a christian, I feel the need to help the poor and needy. Bush’s administration doesn’t seem to see that as a high priority. I think the devastation in Louisiana was a good example of that. Now here is a leader of an “evil nation” giving discounted heating oil to people who need it in our country. Some critics are saying that Chavez is just trying to stick it to Bush. This may be so, however, I do know that God uses people of all types to do his will. Just because it’s president Chavez, doesn’t mean that God can’t use him to help the poor and needy. God used the Pharoah of Egypt to help the Hebrew nation get to the Promised Land. God used a prostitute to help the Israelites defeat the city of Jericho. God used King David, a murderer and adulterer, to make Israel a mighty nation. The list could go on and on and on.

Another, more modern, example could be art today. Some people label things in culture as “christian” or “secular”. Personally, I hate these terms. People think that “christian” music, books, movies and art are better for some reason than their “secular” counterparts. It’s as if anything with a “christian” label is good and everything else is trash. I couldn’t disagree more. Why can’t truth be found in everything? If God truly is God, than why can’t He use people to do the good He wants?

Just something to think about.

Chavez uses petro-dollars to help the poor - in America

Sheldon Alberts, CanWest News Service Published: Tuesday, December 05, 2006

CARACAS, Venezuela - Hugo Chavez coasted to another six-year term as Venezuela’s president on the strength of petro-dollars and promises to spread more of his country’s oil wealth to the poor. But as Chavez struggles to alleviate poverty for eight million of his own citizens, the 52-year-old leftist leader is using his oil riches in an unlikely way - by paying the winter heating bills for hundreds of thousands of underprivileged Americans.Read the rest of the article here at Canada.com

More blog updates

Well, I have things pretty much setup on my domain now. I’ll be re-coding this to do a redirect soon. That way if you come here, you won’t have to wonder where to go. If you’re interested in doing this yourself, check this out. This guy lays out exactly how to do it if you need some help. If you’re a little nerdy you can probably figure most of this out yourself, but a little help is always nice too.

After I get a template and all the quirks figured out, I’ll be migrating my other blogs over too with redirects as well. Hope everyone has a good weekend.
