Blog Update

I bought branfeld.com today and am currently working on getting wordpress setup. I’ll keep everyone posted on the details. Eventually I’d like to move all of my blogs there. First I have to get the install figured out. After I get it done and everything is setup, I’ll probably delete the files and start over from scratch. That way I’ll have a better handle on things.

New Service

So I think I’m going to be switching things over to Wordpress soon. I already have this test import up and going. I might get some server space from Squatz so I can have more control over my template and whatnot. Hopefully Tara can give me some tips on a good theme.

New Ring

Tonight Liz and I went back to the jewelry store where that lady treated me like a child over the phone. This time we talked to a good employee who was more than happy to let me trade in for something else. I’m getting a titanium ring. They’re supposed to be super durable and really manly.

While we were there, we saw Liz’s parents and Lando walk by. It was most definitely the place to be. We even saw a funny looking security guard. He had a really goofy looking hat on. Luckily we didn’t have to witness any fellow customers get harassed this time.

Beta or New Service?

Seeing the new features of the Blogger Beta was exciting me…until I started poking around the internet to see how people liked it. One blog I came across was this one. There’s a lot of interesting things on there - especially if you understand what they’re talking about. Right now I’m thinking about maybe converting to Wordpress or even shelling out a few bucks for Typepad.

Anybody have any advice for me? I know Blogger isn’t anywhere near Xanga status, but it’s not like it’s top notch either. I could just switch to Wordpress and get all the beta features w/o the beta switch problems. I’ll have to think about this one.

Wedding Rings

So when Liz and I got our rings we told the lady about how I destroy everything I put on my hands. I’ve tried wearing rings before and I used to wear watches. So after telling her what kind of stuff I do she told us that 14k gold would hold up wonderfully. Well, after 2 weeks of wearing this thing, it’s all scuffed up and there are multiple gouges all across it that go through the finish. I haven’t done anything except open doors, hold hand rails and pick up an occasional box or suit case. What would happen if I wore it lifting or while working on my car or while installing equipment at work?

So I called up the place we got them at and tried to explain my concern. I got laughed at. Then I tried to tell her that I realize things get scratched up. However, it’s only been two weeks and I already have lots of scratches through the finish. She then half-heartedly told me to bring it in. It was like I was complaining there was no ice to put in my coffee. Seriously people.

So there’s a possibility I might try to get something steel or titanium. Something I won’t have to worry about taking on and off every 40min during the day.

The Hobbit

I’m slowly catching up on everything from being sick and getting married and whatnot. In case you didn’t know, Peter Jackson will not be directing The Hobbit unless a lot of things change. Turns out that lawsuit over The Fellowship still isn’t resolved and New Line is looking for somebody else. Here’s a couple articles if you want to read about it.

Joey Lauren Adams directing

I was just watching a trailer for Come Early Morning and noticed Joey Lauren Adams was the director. That’s kinda crazy. When I think of her I think of movies like Bio-Dome or Dazed and Confused or Mallrats or Big Daddy or Chasing Amy, etc, etc. Directing is a whole new level. I’m impressed. I’m really interested to see how she did. She has the writing credits as well. A lot of times people get kind of pigeon-holed into one role or another and when they break out we’re all pleasantly surprised. I think Jim Carrey, Zach Braff and Adam Sandler are good examples of that.

Changes

Yeah, so if you didn’t know already…I’m married now. The wedding went pretty well despite the things that tried to go wrong. A lot of those things we managed to keep from Liz until after the fact. I think things worked out best that way. Things like my tux disappearing, some homeless man wandering into the girls’ dressing room and going through their purses, my lungs not working and me hardly being able to stand, DJ music gone AWOL, etc, etc. It all came together in the end and I think everybody had a wonderful time.

Afterwards we took off on a cruise to Grand Cayman, Roatan Honduras, Belize and Costa Maya Mexico. It was interesting because I could hardly understand anybody in Honduras or Belize. However, when we got to Mexico, it was like old hat. I find it funny sometimes that people don’t realize how differently people speak languages in the same way there are different accents and dialects when people speak english. The cruise was awesome. So awesome in fact, that Liz and I joined the Vacation Club and became VIPs. It’s a semi-exclusive club. Out of 3.5 million that cruise with them, there’s only 16,000 members. Basically we’re prepaying for more cruises at discounted prices and receiving tons of benefits, perks and other discounts on top of that. It’s a good deal if you’ll utilize it.
