I have to say I’m starting to feel the peer pressure. Neville now has his top 10 list out. Oh, if only netflix wasn’t such a slacker in getting me my unlimited amount of movies to watch. I promise Liz, I promise Neville, I will have a top 10 list.
So it’s Valentine’s Day today. You know what that means? It’s my little brother’s birthday tomorrow and I haven’t gotten him anything yet. You may think this is a tragedy. Does he get me stuff for my birthday? Rarely. Does he care if I get him a gift in a timely manner? Nope. That’s the beauty of our relationship. The young lad (college boy) and I have a pretty solid relationship full of punches, kicks, screams, embarrassments and occasionally a forced hug or two. We’d kill for each other. That’s just the way it is. I sometimes pitty the person that pisses both of us off at the same time. We could always pull in a third man and get our cousin Wes to back us up. He makes the both of us look like girly-men.
Yeah……so anyways, the highlight of my day yesterday was buying a couple grammar books. Nerdly you might say? Well the one book covers pronouns and prepositions and the 2nd book is all about suffixes. Oh yeah, and they’re in spanish too. I like to think I’m competent in my first language. It’s that second one I’m not too fluent in. So go ahead and make fun of me for buying grammar books and I’ll just call you a racial biggot or something like that.
Well I hope this holiday finds all of you well. If you any of you got the day off, I’d like to find out where you work.
Stuff that’s been happening…..
Thursday we talked about beauty and sex in the world at small group. What society has to think about it, what we think about it, what we can do to make a difference in the misconceptions we see, etc. It was a pretty good discussion.
Friday Phil got here. We watched Thumbsucker, pretty good movie btw, and started in on Kung Fu Hustle. We ate lots of not-spicy cheese dip(spiciness is apparently a relevant observation) and had a pretty good time.
Saturday I slept til 1 cause I was up til 6 something. For some reason I couldn’t get to sleep. I watched Bad News Bears. It was pretty funny. Nothing spectacular, but pretty funny nonetheless. Anita’s crib was built, we got some food at Puerta Vallarta where I learned a full order of nachos is just a half order spread out on a bigger plate, and we went to church. Later on we tried to have a party but nobody really came. We also watched Serenity.
Sunday we hung out, ate at Olive Garden, Phil went back home and I had a nice nap. Then later on at 7 there was an official viewing of The Big Lebowski at my place. Little Moser was over and experienced The Dude for the very first time. Ladies and gents, I’m proud to announce that Little Moser is now an avid fan just like the rest of us.
So now it’s Monday and it’s back to work. The plan for tonight is to hang out with Robby. Not sure what we’re doing exactly.
Well, showed up for jury duty today. There were about 30 of us there. I didn’t get picked because they found 6 people they liked before they got to me. At one point during the jury selection process the lawyers were kinda getting into it like a couple of kids in a recess showdown. The prosecutor started describing a very specific situation and asking the prospective juror’s opinions when the defense lawyer objected saying his fellow attorney was starting to get into details of the case. The offending lawyer then said he’d rephrase his question. So he pretty much said the exact same thing changing one detail. That got him a second objection and he was told to drop it. Then later on when the defense attorney was asking some questions the prosecuting attorney objected and said in a whiny voice, “Who’s bringing up details of the trial now?” The judge shot him down and let the defense attorney continue. Seemed like the guy had a bad attitude. However, it was entertaining nonetheless.
I sometimes get weird messages. I think this one takes the cake so far…
Unidentified Man: I’m really looking for the truck driver. I’ve got a uh, armored car out here now. It’s got 85 million in a um, a policy for him and he called me to tell me to ask for this number and he can call me back at xxx-xxx-xxxx, ask for his name and I’ll catch it.
I might actually get to participate in a trial. This is the 3rd time I’ve been called for civic duty and the first time I actually have to go in. I just wish it wasn’t right now since I’ve missed so much work recently.
I scored a new office today. One of the back rooms got cleaned out so now I have a door and can play my music as loud as I want. It’s working out pretty well so far. One of the biggest benefits has to be people not walking by my desk and trying to read my email anymore. It might get a little lonely in here but it’s not like I’m chained to the wall or anything.

Has anyone ever thought that maybe these cave drawings aren’t the art of less sophisticated people, but maybe just scribblings from kids 25,000 years ago?
Finally made it back to work today. We’re going to be moving my desk in the near future to a more enclosed area to see if the air purifier thingy works better and I’ll be able to breath. I like breathing. It puts a smile on my face.
