In other news…..

I have a theory that at any given time there’s a Tom Petty song being played somewhere on a radio station you can pick up in the state of Indiana.

If you don’t read Achewood, you need to catch up on The Great Fight - 3 days, 3 acres, 3,000 men

Kerasotes has a club you can join where you get a card and can go see movies for $5

Oh, and I found out tonight that if you go to BW3s and you get their nachos, be prepared to pay another $4 if you need a few extra chips to scoop up the extra stuff. I think that’s what separates restaurants from crappy sports bar places.

Going to see a movie by yourself isn’t that scary after all. Even if you’re the only non 40-something year woman and you didn’t come to see the movie because you think Pierce Brosnan is hot.

Good Weekend

Yesterday I lifted, took two naps, watched some movies, went to IHOP, played some poker, and got to hang out with some of the guys.

Today I did and filed my taxes and I’m not working on lunch. Here’s what’s on the menu:
1 box medium sized shells
1 tub of ricotta cheese
1 can mushrooms
About 1/2 to 3/4 lb of browned hamburger
Some basil
Some oregano
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of celery soup
1/3 box of velveeta cheese
Most of 1 jar of garlic spaghetti sauce

She’s all mixed together and cooking in a pot right now. I’m going to give it a few more minutes before I dig in.

Awesome Day

Today I only had to work til 10. I ran some errands. I caught a 12:30 movie. It seemed like I had a whole Saturday to myself before 5:00. It was awesome.

Shorb visit

Sunday night the Shorbs stopped by! They were doing a tour of the midwest and made a pit stop my way to see Liz and I. We enjoyed some chalupa and just hung out for a while. It was a lot of fun. Erika even had a ‘latest addition to her face’ in the way of some sweet glasses. The Shorb is still teaching away and doing an awesome job at it as far as I can tell. He has all these stories that I’m sure I wouldn’t be handling in the same calm fashion as him. Maybe at first but day after day? I admire this guy.

Cooking

That’s what I did with most of my day today. I got up, went to the gym, got something to eat and then started in on my day of cooking. The Shorbs are coming!!! Nate asked me to make him some chalupa so I did. It takes a while to make but is so worth it.

Is it cold where you are? It’s definitely cold here. I think it went from 50’s to the single digits in a 24hr period here. My joints are screaming. I feel everything I’ve hurt shouting at me - ankles, knees, hands, wrists and shoulders. If I can stay warmer that definitely helps, however, my head got really cold earlier today and when that happens I’m just screwed. Then my whole body is cold and there’s not much I can do about it.

Tonight I met up at Chili’s with Liz, Karen and Rajeev and Amanda. Then Liz and I headed over to the theater and caught the last showing of The New World. It’s a pretty good movie. It was almost funny to see Wes Studi because it seems like he’s in so many Native American roles. The movie was a bit slow but really, really good.

Clarification

So it’s after 3am again and I’m awake. Ended up making a late night Wal-Mart run where I stocked up on some necessities….like food. I’m making chalupa this weekend cause the Shorbs are coming and it was requested.

So I was told I needed to elaborate on my story from last night. I’ll just start from the beginning….anyways, I was heading out of Hartford City towards Upland when I saw what looked like a car on the side of the road at least a mile up ahead. My first thought was it’s a cop car. There have been several times where I’m heading home on 26 and there’s a couple cop cars just chillin in the middle of the road. It’s kind of annoying. So as I’m coming up on the car I see a truck pull onto 26 and then stop across from it. As I get closer I realize that it’s not a cop, it’s just a car. At first I thought nobody was in the car because I couldn’t see any heads above the seats. Then I noticed that the door was ajar and the headlights were on. My next thought was that somebody was looking for something/had to go to the bathroom/etc. Then I noticed that the side of the car looked like it had been hit and the driver was in the car, he was just hanging out of his door. Now this may not sound too bad yet, but it was kinda nasty outside. It was raining, it was really windy and it was cold. All I could see was this guy had a t-shirt on. The car also wasn’t all the way off the road. Just halfway. So it’s not like he fell asleep or slid because then he would have easily been in the field (they don’t have ditches in Indiana). So I notice these two guy got out of their truck and are shining flashlights at the parked car. I then asked one of them if they knew what was going on. They told me some guy came into work and told them about this car they saw. So these two guys came to check it out. That means this car had to have been there for at least a little while because somebody had seen this, driven off, told some people and then these guys drove here. They told me they were calling the cops. I didn’t have my cell phone on me because it was charging at home. There were also people coming up behind me so I just continued on home. After I got home I called 911 to report the incident just to make sure. They told me that somebody else had called already and officers were at the scene. I want to try and check local papers to see what exactly happened in the police reports. The guy had to have been unconscious, otherwise he wouldn’t have been hanging out of his car in this kind of weather. I hope he was ok.

So how’s that for a better version Liz?

Jack Black

I think I found a new sweet movie
http://www.nacholibre.com/

I don’t think Jack Black could ever dissapoint me. This is directed by Jared Hess, written by Jared Hess, Jerusha Hess and Mike White. Add in Efren Ramirez and what more could you want?

Really really weird

Tonight I was driving home from Muncie and went through Hartford City. About a mile or two out of town there was a car sorta pulled off to the side of the road with it’s lights on. It kinda looked like the driver’s side had been hit. The driver’s door was partially open and the driver was kinda hanging out of the car. A couple of guys had just stopped before I pulled up and were checking things out. So I called it in when I got home. I hope nothing seriously bad happened.

Story…

So I was talking to my hermanito last night, cause it was his birthday, and he had a great story. The other day he got done with his trig class at 10 and decided to call up Kube, our pre-calc teacher from high school. He did some hunting on the internet and found her classroom number and gave her a call. The conversation went something like this:

K: Hello?
H: Yes, hello? Is this Mrs……Kub, Kube?
K: Yes.
H: Hi, my name is (forgot what he said) from the campus safety at Platteville (where her son goes to school). We have your son in our office. We found a huge bag of marijuana in his room.

Mrs. Kube got all freaked out and started whispering on the phone. He eventually told her who he was. She was even in the middle of teaching a class but talked to him for 30min on the phone. Just so this doesn’t seem too weird, you should know that he’s played soccer with her son for years and has been over at their house a lot so it’s not like he was just trying to prank some random teacher or something.

In other news…I got a comment from UncleBob. He’s pretty cool. I met him at one of my roommate’s weddings. At the wedding I was sort of an usher/groomsman/candle person. At one point I had to officially ask somebody to find another seat because he was sitting in the family section. Uncle Bob and Aunt Marcie definitely deserved a closer seat.

Oh, and I got a call from an Air Force investigator yesterday. They’re sending some guy out to ask me a few questions on Friday.

Valentine’s Day

So….yesterday I was informed that I gave a shout-out to my brother. Yesterday the plan for Liz and I was to go see a movie. We ended up going to Jefferson Pointe to hit up the Rave but ended up eating at this pub place, chillin at Barnes and Noble and then getting some sweet, sweet ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery. I went with the cinnamon ice cream, oreos and m&m’s. Awesome as always. We ended up not seeing a movie cause let’s face it, we see enough movies as it is. Plus, we weren’t really hip on anything that was playing.

In other news, I’ve two completely unrelated conversations where friends have told me my office would be a great place to kill somebody. It’s sound proofed and therefore harder to hear stuff from the outside. Maybe I need to stay away from these people and secluded areas…
