It’s always a little cool and a little weird when you find out you know somebody through somebody else or run into friends in the weirdest places. Sorta like when I used to work at this Dodge dealership and a guy that worked there went to the same school as me when i lived in Phoenix and lived 8 blocks away. We then both moved to the same area in Iowa around the same time and went to the same school system. He was like 5 or 6 years older than me I think. Well yesterday my sister calls me up to tell me she met some guy whose sister went to TU and graduated same time I did.
I’d have to say the week has been progressing quite well. I’m really enjoying getting to spend all this time on these surveys. I got to sit down and talk with Zack for 40min or so today. A lot of the faculty are pretty cool here. Joe and I figured out we’ve talked to 50 some people in a week so far. That’s not bad at all. I think I also found myself a roommate for the near future. Since Nate’s going to be getting married and moving out soon, Swanny needs a place to live. Called up my landlord on the spot and there’s a good possibility I’ll be able to move into a 2 bedroom. That’ll bring my rent and utilities down. Tack on the fact that I’m getting a raise and I’ll definitely be able to start saving a little money and get my loans paid off much quicker.
I now know that a weekend wedding trip to Topeka, Kansas puts about 1500 miles on the car. Luckily I didn’t get too bored or go crazy or anything like that on the solo car ride. It also helps that the speed limit is 70 through most of Missouri and Kansas. That means instead of 80 being speeding, the fast people are going 90 or more. I also got to see Kat for a bit which is fun. Hadn’t seen her since like Thanksgiving I think. We drove around and saw some bison. Got to see Moh and Chad and I even saw the neighbor boy that thinks he owns the world.
The wedding was great. Mr. and Mrs. Benteman let me stay at their house which was awesome of them. They even let me crash there the after the wedding so I could get some sleep before the long trek back. The Lerch family was there too. Hadn’t seen April since graduation I think and also got to meet her and Aaron’s parents. They were pretty funny. I also got to meet Hannah, Aaron and Mindy’s 11month daughter. Since I didn’t really know anybody else there, the Benteman clan let me tag along and made me feel like one of the family. It was also awesome seeing Bente. He’s definitely one of those lifelong friends.
Now I’m back trying to catch up on sleep and get things back to normal. I feel like I’m behind on everything, but I’m not sure exactly what specifically. I did however get the chance to treat Toll to some pizza for his birthday. At least I didn’t completely forget about that.
