Eye Doctor

Well, he didn’t poke my eye out, but it wasn’t all lollipops and puppy dogs either. They were nice and friendly and didn’t poke my eyes, however, the guy’s like, “i need to put some drops in your eyes.” So I say ok and then realize he just dilated my eyes. So I ask him and he says yeah. I really wish he would’ve told me he was doing that beforehand. I had a test to take yesterday and could barely read the paper. Luckily it was cloudy and rainy yesterday. So they gave me some new contacts to try out and on the way back one of them somehow tore right in have inside my left eye. So on top of hardly being able to see(couldn’t make anything out on my dash), my left eye was all screwy with bits of broken contact inside it. When I finally got home it took me about 15min to get the pieces out cause I couldn’t see what I was doing. It was kinda crazy though cause my eyes were all pupil. I’m talking the size of FDR dimes here. They stayed that way for a long time. I think I had my shades on til 7 last night. So I’m gonna head over tomorrow morning and pick up another contact to wear in my left eye and test out. Then I get to go back next week for a follow up to see if they worked out well.

While I was there yesterday I also looked to check out their sunglasses cause I’d like to have a decent pair. I got this awesome pair from Hassebrack a couple years back but then somebody stole from me at work. I haven’t been able to find a decent pair since then. So I after I finally convince them I don’t need super-duper prescription sunglasses they finally show me what they got and they all suck. To top it all off the cheapest thing was going to be $100 or more. I should just swing by Hassebrack’s next time I’m in Iowa and pick up one of their sweet pairs for $20. I just love getting pee’d on and told it’s raining. There’s no reason why I need $160 in the form of sunglasses sitting on my face that could get stolen are sat on.

eh

Man I’m tired right now. Why? Who knows. Got some good lifting in today. It’s always hard to push myself on some things when I got nobody spotting me though. I was doing shrugs today and I’m really starting to get annoyed with the absence of chalk and/or straps. They’ve had straps in the past and I went up to the desk and asked for them and got handed a belt. I then had to explain that straps did not equal a belt and then explain what straps were…..no dice there. So basically 255 isn’t too heavy, I just can’t keep a grip on the bar because my hands are sliding off. Grrrrrrrrrr. I need to just go buy my own chalk and take it in there with me on shrug days.

Yesterday during our IT lunch T.R. informed me that I was ‘freaking him out’. Apparently I usually get this things called the TU burger with fries and I got something else so that just threw his whole world off. I used to think T.R. was a jerk when I was a student. However, he gets cooler the more I’m around him. His cool factor went way up when I found out he lived on Broho and TR’s mom is T.R.’s mom. Maybe someday there’ll be stories about me on the deuce like that….only time will tell.

Tomorrow morning I’m going to an eye doctor. The contacts have run out and I like being able to see. This is a new place I’ve never been to before so hopefully they don’t poke my eye out or anything. It was suggested that I just go to the eye place at Wal-Mart and visit one of their rotating doctors…..I just couldn’t bring myself to trust a Wal-Mart doctor though. I mean seriously….a Wal-Mart doctor? Anyways…I’m sure they have to be somewhat competent….I just choose not to spend money on that there.

In other news….Solomon, a guy that I help out at work periodically, became an American citizen yesterday. His department got a cake for him and gave him the afternoon off and everything. I informed him we need to go get some lunch some day on my dime to celebrate. He’s a cool guy and probably the most energetic prof I’ve seen. So a big congrats goes out to my new fellow American.

Food

That’s right, I finally bought some more. I completely ran out of cheese and tortillas…not much bread left, no vegetables or fruit. No milk or other beverages of any kind….luckily I had some potatoes and butter so I could make mac n cheese. I also had ketchup….you can do a lot with ketchup.

So I don’t know how public I’ve made this known yet….but this summer I plan to have a movie marathon of some sorts every week. This will definitely be a challenge, and I know there will probably be some weeks where I won’t be able to pull it off. I think I’m willing to accept some back-to-back-to-back/all day saturday marathon action as well as some one-movie-a-night-all-week marathon action. I’ve also been highly considering getting netflicks this summer which could greatly perpetuate this marathon dream. So what really consists a marathon? Two movies? Five movies? I could do a Kevin Smith marathon and watch all 5 Jay and Silent Bob movies (maybe even Jersey Girl). Or I could watch all Wes Anderson movies which would be 4. What if I wanted to do a mob marathon or a western marathon or a Clint Eastwood marathon. Those are all potentially marathons of marathons. Thoughts? Ideas? Ground Rules? Anybody want to participate?

Basketball

So I went next door to hang out and watch the “big game” tonight. Met some new people and had a good time. At one point this one guy was talking about how he’s heard that in Wheeeeeeeeeeeangatz with their big open showers some guys on 1EW took some lawn chairs into the big shower, turned all the showers on and sat their in their trunks talking and hanging out. ¡¡¡¡¡¡How SCANDALOUS!!!!!! I decided not to pipe up with any stories from the deuce. It’s always funny hearing people tell stories about Centre Morris or just other people doing ‘crazy’ things on campus. You find out real quick where people personally draw the line.

Right now I’m re-watching Un Día Sin Mexicanos to write a couple paragraphs on it for my class. It’s definately not the highest class and budgeted of films, but I really like its style. In other news, I’ve created another blog just to house pictures online through Picasa and Hello in order to have easy access to them from anywhere.

240?

I think that’s the post number I’m up to. I’ve been trying to periodically keep an eye on that cause supposedly it’s starts dropping old posts if you have more than 300. Definitely not much going on today. We broke 10k posts on the forum and they’re still rolling in. Posting will probably slow down a bit with Fuzz having to get back to work. Oh yeah, that also reminds me that spring break is over now. So all the kiddies are back. Unfortunately that kinda sounds on a low note as we just learned that a sophomore was struck by a car and killed while home for the break. My first couple years as a student people died and I didn’t take it too hard. It was quite devastating to the campus. I didn’t think too much of it cause I was kinda used to it. At my highschool it seemed like at least one person died every single year. Sometimes more. The school district covers so much more area than most others and a lot of kids have to drive a ways, if they don’t take the bus (which isn’t cool btw), and therefore there’s always the possibility of more car accidents. Rarely was alcohol ever involved. It was usually bad road conditions in the summer or somebody being stupid and trying to pass somebody in their pimped out car or something like that. You know how it is in highschool. You think you’re on top of the world. This time I had no idea who the student was that died. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or bad thing. You could say good because then I’m not necessarily affected too much. You could also say bad because I missed out on possibly meeting another one of God’s awesome creations. I’m not really sure which one I feel right now.

Having stats on this thing always proves to be interesting….especially some of the things people search for when finding and visiting this thing. Some of the latest being:

Anyways….not a whole lot going on. Last night Stormin Norman and I went and saw Sin City. It was a good movie, but definitely had content that would make it not cool for a lot of people I know. The timeline was a bit confusing sorta like Pulp Fiction. We also had a lot of high school kids in there. Definitely amusing. I told Norm I sometimes wonder if I acted like that 10 years ago or so then I reassure myself that I didn’t. I didn’t act like that….did I?

Yesterday I went back to the doc to have my blood pressure checked. Little over a week ago I went there cause I was sick and they got all worried about my blood pressure. I wasn’t worried at all but they were flippin out. So I go back and turns out there were using the small cuff instead of the big one. This used to happen to me in high school only I had forgotten about it. The nurse told me she has no idea why they didn’t use the bigger cuff because of my weight and the “size of my arms”. Yeah - apparently the medical world considers me ‘muscle-y’ - hahahaha. Well, now I just gotta convince gung-ho doctor that was filling in for the one I normally see that I’m not two cheeseburgers away from heart failure.

Today was definately a day of sloth and idleness. So I guess today needs to be dedicated to Joe. I woke up, read, made a sandwich, ate said sandwich, read some more, finished the book, then started watching Stargate. I’ve since then ran out of Dr. Pepper. Grrrrrr. I either have to put some pants on to acquire more or just deal with it. Right now a baked potato is starting to sound really awesome. Maybe even a couple spread out on a plate with some hamburger, butter, garlic, cheese, veggies, etc on top. hmmmmmmmm….yeah i better get right on that.
