Elaine’s here

Well, my pal Elaine has moved into her house almost a block from me. Went to Garden State last night and it was a good thing I was wearing shoes cause it rocked my socks off. I need to go see it again. It was Liz, her sister and brother-in-law, Tara, Dave, TLoft, Shorb and a couple other people. Lots of fun. Then we went to Steak My Shake afterwards and I got a large plate of cheese fries. Mmmm Mmmmmm Good - just like soup commercials. I’m so glad it’s the weekend. Get to relax. Need to clean the place up a bit. Oh yeah, also need to finish my presentation materials for Monday. Can’t forget that stuff. Well it’s probably about time to get back to cleaning stuff.

Free Night

Well, this is my only free night this week. I’ve just been chillin. Doing pretty much nothing and loving it. I just turned on the TV and the Olympics are on and it’s girls gymnastics. There’s some chinese girl about to do something and they flash her name on the screen. Don’t remember the last name but her first name was Wang. Who would name their kid that? All I could think of was the Simpsons episode where Homer is trying to think of a name for his first born child and decides on Bart cause it doesn’t rhyme with anything bad that kids would say to make fun of him like……say ‘fart’ for example.

Work was a bit trying today. I spent all day trying to fix other people’s mistakes. I had these computers setup correct originally, but other people making changes to them has of coursed messed everything up. Kinda frustrating to see all your hard work go by the wayside. Luckily, I am in sole control of these computers now so I’m going to be locking them down in a roundabout way so nobody can make changes except me. It’s kinda cool and I’m looking forward to see how this new software we’re putting on is going to work.

Tomorrow is Garden State day! I’m really looking forward to it. I really don’t see how I can be disappointed. I just hope there isn’t a mega crowd when we get there and we don’t get seats or something. That would not be cool. Well, decidí mi next goal en comida mexicana será tamales. A spanish friend of mine has always talked about strawberry tamales pero i’ve only eaten “plain” ones. I’ve never made these before or seen them being made so hopefully I can find something online to help me out. If anybody has the secret on this stuff please share. So I guess if you see me say something about them and remind me to try them sometime. Or maybe I will have cooked some and I can tell you how wonderful/awful they were.

I was getting low on books and then bought 6 I think on amazon. They’re all here but one so now I’m something deep in books. I’ll have to think of a better metaphor than something later. Well, I think it’s about high time I crawled back to the couch for some more laziness.

Another Day

I must start off by thanking all the well-wishes that…..wished me well today. It was much appreciated. Today was much cooler than last year. Today I was helping out Linda in the library basement and as I was looking out the window I could see a white plastic bag floating in the air and being blown up against the building like I was watching the scene out of American Beauty. It was pretty cool. There weren’t any leaves though cause it’s summer, not fall. Haven’t watched that one in a while. Haven’t heard from my dad which is a blessing. I don’t know why my birthday is usually an excuse for him to be mean to me. Maybe he forgot :) Boy was I hungry today. Got to work this morning and apparently my mom told Beth it was my b-day so they made this crazy sign that covered the whole wall by my desk and Beth made some sheet cake/brownie stuff and they had some cool little present things. Steve of course got all into it and was “taping” it. Probably making a documentary or something. I hope Beth knows I appreciated it. I always feel awkward when I’m the center of attention and hate it when people sing Happy Birthday to me. Is that weird? I’m also not extremely emotional so I don’t go crazy happy excited over stuff to. I better say something to her tomorrow to make sure she knows I liked it. Well didn’t get any lunch today and then after work went to Indy and helped JRod move. Then didn’t get back til after 9. So I finally made a sandwich. Funny how some things taste so much better when you’re really hungry. Maybe I should try that more often…in a non-anorexic sort of way. Kinda weird to think of me being really skinny. Well I think I’ll pop a dew in celebration of this good day…maybe read and definitely get some sleep.

Busyness

Well, just like the end of last summer things are really starting to ramp up. It’s like we work at all of our summer projects and then all of a sudden we have to really hurry cause the summer is almost over. I’ve been wondering if this is because we don’t work hard enough during june and july or if this is because there’s just not enough time to get everything done. Oh well. Tonight I’m helping Collymore out with some stuff as usual and then tomorrow it’s down to Indy to help the JRod move in to his new apartment. Maybe I’ll get to make like a beached whale on Thursday and then on Friday it’s Garden State time. It has finally come to my beloved Castleton Arts Theater for me to watch. Tomorrow’s that big day once a year where I get a little older. I’m really hoping my dad just leaves me alone this time. Last year he kinda ruined my day…and had me pissed off for the rest of that week. I don’t know what his problem is. I guess when you’re miserable you try to bring other down to your level or something. Well, need to go meet with Dr. (Bill) Toll. I don’t know how long I’ll be working here but for some reason I don’t envision myself calling him by his first name…ever. He wants to try out his tablet PC in the current system in a lecture hall for a presentation he’s giving next week. So I better get to work.

Comprehension

Took Becky and Andy to see Napoleon Dynamite. Becky complained the whole way about how it was probably going to be stupid and she wouldn’t like it, blah blah blah. But then she was laughing the whole way through. There were maybe 10-15 people in the theater including us so I could actually hear everything that was said. To those of us that haven’t been able to understand what the teacher says when Napoleon gets up and talks about blowing Nessie out of the water, the teacher says, “Your current event Napoleon.” We went in the afternoon so we got the cheaper prices and got to see tons of previews. I saw one for Silver City that looked interesting.

I loved the extra scene at the end. Everybody else in the theater left so we were the only three left. Even though Kip’s song reminded me an awful lot of his poem you hear him writing before their grandma informs them of her trip, it was still pretty cool. I also loved LaFawnduh’s family members shaking their heads and the hair on that little kid. Then Napoleon comes riding in on a horse with the line about taming that wild stallion for them. It’s kinda funny how Napoleon is a habitual liar. Then again it’s kinda not, but at least he has some skills.

Steve is back today. First thing he asked was if I missed him. I honestly said that I really hadn’t thought about it. Well, it’s getting to be crunch time now. The kids are gonna be back for classes soon and we really have to finish all the updating/installing/etc so it’ll be ready. Oh, and if anybody really needs some chalupa out there let me know and you’ll have to come over to hang out. I made a ton and have lots of left overs.

los hermanitos

Well, Becky and Andy got here this afternoon. I spent all of today ‘preparing’. Made 2 batches of corn tortillas and got chalupa made. It’s a long process. Now all I have to do is get the stuff in the crockpot before we head off to church. It’s fun seeing them w/o my mom here. It’s hard to explain. If you have brothers and/or sisters and like them then I’m pretty sure you know what I mean.

Tonight we got some Toppit and watched the Olympics. Tomorrow I’m going to take them to see Napoleon Dynamite. They also brought some more of my stuff from home. Like all of my board games for one. I don’t play games all the time, but it’s nice to be able to have the option to. Contrary to popular belief, I do get tired of watching movies sometimes. It’s pretty funny cause my sister wouldn’t walk outside to get her bag out of the car by herself. I sometimes wonder how she’s going to cope. As soon as she got in my apartment she wanted to lock all the doors and close all the blinds. Then since I don’t have wash clothes she wanted to take a towel and soak it to wash her face with and didn’t understand why I didn’t want her to. I love her though even with all her funny quirks. Oh yeah, she also gave me the speech asking why I don’t have a girlfriend yet and am I even trying. She’s always been really anxious for me to get married for some reason. Don’t know why though. She’s funny. Andy is the same as always. I told him if he dirties my bathroom he gets to clean it before they leave on Monday. It’s always great when the three of us are together cause Andy and I pseudo speak spanish and since Becky doesn’t really know any, that can get quite amusing. Well, Andy and I are in the middle of watching The Hunted before getting some sleep.

Napoleon Dynamite Strikes Again

I just found out that Napoleon Dynamite is playing in Marion and Muncie! Now I’m definitely going to be taking Becky and Andy when they get here tomorrow. They better laugh too otherwise…I’ll have to laugh for them or something. I guess I’ve grown out of that “beat on the little brother” stage. Besides being a part of the growing up thing, it’s probably for the best because Andy and I could definitely do some damage to each other besides the fact I have residual scars from the boy. Well, back to being bored at work.

P.S. - I sent in my pair of brown Eastland shoes I wear for work cause the soles split and they sent me a brand new pair today with an apology for the soles breaking. I basically got a free $60 pair of shoes for the 3rd class postage I spent sending the shoes to them.

It’s Friday

Well, lucky for me it’s Friday. That means no work tomorrow. That also means the siblings are coming tomorrow which reminds me my sister was wanting me to cook some specific stuff for her so I probably need to go procure some supplies. I had two people tell me they read my blog yesterday…that was kinda cool. I don’t know how some people find it. Maybe I’ve told them and don’t remember or something. I should probably buckle down and write out those instructions for my Publisher session with Thom on Monday. Part of my job is teaching professors how to do technical stuff. It can be fun - and I know it’s helping out the students. There was one prof that had these notoriously boring overheads he’d been using since…well probably nobody knows. Anyways I taught him the joys of PowerPoint last school year and he’s gone kinda ‘coocoo for cocoa pops’ over getting all those converted. That always feels good to know you’re helping some fellow students out. Well, I’m not a student anymore, but you know what I mean.

Ended up not starting that new book last night. Got myself distracted randomly going through all the mp3s on my computer and randomly listening to stuff while chatting with a couple people online. Maybe I’ll read some of it tonight. Well, I should probably get to work on those instructions.

Random movie quote - “I film this, I yell cut and then I get..outta here back to my trailer because I got more white girls in there then the first lifeboat of the Titanic…”

Comment if you know where that’s from. It’ll give me something to read later today. Or comment just cause so I’ll have something to read later today.

New license

Well, I finally did it. Went and got myself an Indiana driver’s license. It was kind of a sad day and I don’t know why. I guess I should get used to being a resident of this state, but I don’t really want to yet. Whenever people ask me where I’m from I say I’m from Iowa but living in Indiana. I can’t even remember how long it took for me to actually say I was from Iowa instead of Arizona. Now I’m used to Iowa and don’t wanna change again.

After I took the written test the lady looked over her shoulder at me really weird then checked my answers again. The second time she looked around she had this really befuddled look on her face and said in an amazed voice, “you didn’t miss any” in a half whisper at me. It was like she didn’t know what to do or couldn’t believe it or something. All I said was, “cool”. The test was so easy. Way easier than the test you have to take in Iowa. Some of the question answers on there were quite comical. Like if an officer tells you to do something an option was to ignore the cop…stuff like that. Oh well, I guess I’m official now. But just be careful calling me a hoosier or you might get an adverse response.

I was going nuts at work today. Absolutely nothing to do. Most of my friends that do the blog thing haven’t been updating their blogs either so I couldn’t read theirs and comment or anything. Steve needs to get back so I can stop doing his job and start doing mine and get some stuff done. I think I might start a new book tonight. Maybe some C.S. Lewis or something. Just got a few more from Amazon too so hopefully they’ll be coming in the mail soon.

I taste like…

So I’m bored at work today and started looking through the most recently updated blogs and then took this quiz on “what i taste like”. On a side note I’m listening to music I like which just so happens to be Rammstein at the moment. It’s great when nobody’s around and I don’t have to listen to “easy listening” that starts to grate against my inner-most being. Oh yeah, here’s the results:

What Flavour Are You? I taste like Bread.I taste like Bread.I am a staple in almost everyone’s diet. Friends like me are a complement to any other friends I get on with almost everyone, remaining mostly in the background, but providing substance when it would otherwise be lacking.
Or, my secondary taste is…
What Flavour Are You? Cor blimey, I taste like Tea.Cor blimey, I taste like Tea.I am a subtle flavour, quiet and polite, gentle, almost ambient. My presence in crowds will often go unnoticed. Best not to spill me on your clothes though, I can leave a nasty stain. What Flavour Are You?

Not exactly sure what I should gain from this quiz taking experience, but I guess feel free to take it yourself and find out what you taste like.
